Welcome to Fleece For Keeps
We're a non-profit group of volunteers making no-sew fleece blankets for foster children in Delaware.
Our Mission
Fleece For Keeps seeks to provide a sense of warmth and stability to children in the foster care system in Delaware through the distribution of handmade fleece blankets. Many of these children have nothing that feels permanent to them. a warm handmade blanket that they can choose from the supply, could provide a feeling of something that is theirs to keep, no matter where they go. Our goal would be to provide a continuous supply of blankets, one for each child that enters the foster care system.

A HUGE thank you to all who participated in our fundraiser!!  A great time was had by all.  We raised almost $3400 to help Fleece for Keeps continue to provide blankets for children in foster care.

 Thank You!

Poem:

This ol’ thing? Oh I don’t know,
I’ve had it for a while.
Sure it’s worn, but I don’t mind.
It’s been mine since a child.
When I was small and growing up,
With none to call my own.
I lived with folks that were not mine.
They called them “foster homes”.
I moved around a lot back then.
The families went and came.
The faces changed ‘most every year,
But one thing stayed the same.
You see, this lady visited me
‘round Christmas when I was four.
She offered me this blanket,
Out of love and nothing more.
She didn’t know me from before,
Or even know my name .
She said that I was surely loved
And I was not to blame.
It made me feel real good inside
To know that someone cared,
And when I held this blanket tight
I felt the love she shared.
My blanket was the constant friend
I needed during change.
Its fleece would softly cover me
When life would again get strange.
I’m glad I kept this worn out thing.
One thing I’d like to do…
Find my caring fleece lady,
And say “I love you too”.
